Your workspace as a blogger can be the most critical place in your home.

I still live at home, so my workspace is in my bedroom. When I finished school, I tended to do most of my writing with a lap desk while sitting on my bed; however, upon deciding to go back to school, I got an actual desk.

This is for sure the most substantial desk I have owned in my academic life. I purchased it from Walmart for $48 Canadian. It has a wood style with some mid-century aspects to it. It features a large cubby hole with two drawers on either side giving ample space for everything.

I generally keep all of my highlighters and pens on one side and all of my extra notebooks for blogging on the left along with my planner. The cubby hole features some textbooks, more journals, and adult colouring books.

I really enjoy the length of this desk. I am able to keep an ivy plant and have all of my work aspects going on. I can have my laptop to the side for researching and exercise as well as space for my Ipad if I want to watch something in the background or be able to quickly facetime.

Unfortunately, I haven't found my dream chair yet, so I am just using a standard folding chair and have my faux blanket from Chapters draped over it.

It isn't the most glamours workspace, but it works for me and helps me keep organised especially while balancing full-time work, school, and blogging.

What do you think of my workspace? Have any tips or links to some desk organisers? Please, let me know about it in the comments down below!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Before I was able to work just three shifts a week and had enough money for everything I needed.

Fast forward to today and being off of school a year, travelling and pretty much living that "YOLO" lifestyle, I am now pretty strapped for cash. Compared to when I last went to school, I now have a car payment, insurance payment, higher phone bill, and making the decision last minute to go back to school was probably not my best plan. I am also working full-time hours at 40 hours a week and still have a very light coin purse.

You have to start appreciating the small things at times like these. You have to know when to part ways with some or a lot of things and becoming a bit tech savvy helps. So, without further delay let's get into my 8 tips to handle the broke student life.

#1: Live Within Your Means.

Try and wrap your head around a budget and understand that you have to live a bit more humble now. You don't need the latest makeup or smartphone. Chances are you already have a makeup desk stocked well with all of the makeup you could possibly want and your phone is still working fine. Try not to get anything new unless you really need to. I know, this is easier said than done, but it does help to understand how much money you can or can't spend.

#2 Look For Deals.

Gifted couponers are my favourite people. The ability to go into a grocery store and use as many coupons to get everything they need for as little price as possible is amazing. I wish I could do that, but I do use as many coupons as I can. Coupons come in the mail, online, or even on cereal boxes. There is nothing wrong with using them and they can give your wallet a much-needed break.

#3 Hang In Rather Than Hang Out.

This is pretty self-explanatory. You don't have to go out to hang out with friends. Invest in a $20 board game or watch a new movie on Netflix. Going out for food and drinks or even a coffee can add up over time. There's also the chances your friends won't mind spending a night in, as well.

#4 Having No Time Means Less Time To Spend.

School, work, and other responsibilities take up a majority of a student's time. I find lately that I have zero time to shop or spend money on something I shouldn't because I really don't have time to go out to the shops. This is not always great, but it will help if you're trying to save a bit of money throughout the semester.

#5 The Envelope Budget.

This is probably the most useful tip on this list. I'm actually using this myself right now. To use this budget method you need to look at your income, I look at mine on a bi-weekly basis. You then take away your main expenses such as rent, insurance, car payments, bills, etc... I then break down how much I can give myself to spend on gas, food, and miscellanea items. Everything else that is left over goes into my savings account. After that, anything I don't spend over the two-week period can just continue over into the next. For example, my envelopes are as followed:

Food: $50

Gas: $75

Random: $25

This way I don't spend more than I have and I am actually able to save money.

#6 Get Creative With Food.

Skip the takeaway and get creative with making food. If you're just making food for yourself, you can easily meal prep 4 lunches with a $4 pack of stir-fry vegetables, tofu, and rice. It is a very cheap meal and saves you in the long run. Meal prepping like this for at least one meal a day can save you so much over the course of a semester.

#7 Extra Income.

Since going back to school I have been looking into ways to earn a bit of extra money on the side. One way is through online surveys such as Dailyrewards.com. You do surveys and get paid so much for each survey you complete. You may not be the right match for every survey, but if you have some time between classes or readings you can easily do a survey. I haven't made too much so far, but I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on how much I make doing the survey over the course of the month. I will also point out that this is in no way sponsored.

Other ways you can try and make an extra income is through doing odd jobs like walking someone's dog or running errands for people.

#8 Used Textbooks.

As a student, you will know that textbooks can be super expensive. I go to one of the most affordable universities in North America and I still feel the pain of having to spend close to $500 on textbooks. Thankfully, this semester I was able to cut that down to less than $150. This is mostly thanks to my school's Used Textbook Sale and thanks to Thriftbooks.com. I have so many English textbooks and I was so happy to see that most of them were actually on this site for an awesome price. If you would like to get 15% off your first purchase you should totally use this link. I would like to point out that this is not sponsored, Thriftbooks has a shareable code offer for all members to give to their friends and family.

Besides University textbooks Thriftbooks also has a lot of high school books and children's books as well. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

That concludes all 8 tips to help handle being a broke student and ways to save a little bit of extra money. Did you try any of these tips? Let me know in the comments down below!

It's been a spell and summer was a busy hot mess, but I'm back and have some thoughts for you guys.

So, if you don't follow me on Twitter you may not know that I've decided to head back to school again. However, I'm not heading back for MBA, but I am going an entirely different route. I am heading back and doing an English major and will hopefully be applying to the secondary education program at my University for next September.

This is a huge difference, I know! So far, I have been getting mixed reviews from friends and family. Some are being super supportive, others have voiced their concerns and feel like I'm wasting my business degree. However, I don't feel that way and that's the main thing. I feel like education is a much more significant role for me rather than working in a stuffy office building stuck at a desk all day. I really want to make a difference in people's lives, so why not be the teacher students can reach out to if they need help. Now, I could be completely wrong, but in this life does anything ever turn out like we want it to? Nope.

Anyway, I had my first class back the other day. It was a big day, and it is still kind of a blur. I was in buildings I haven't had classes in since my first year in 2011 and I was getting lost, but the environment is much more relaxed than in my business classes. People also seem a bit freer. I noticed so many tattoos where my business classes if you had one you had it covered. People were also wearing different styles of clothes and I was in awe taking all of that in. Luckily, I have my best friend in all of my classes so she helped me get from A to B and sorted out our textbook lists and I am ever so grateful for her.

My only real concern over this semester is how I am going to successfully juggle school and full-time work again without breaking. I have already written one of my papers and have started reading one of the required novels since this is my last day off from both school and work. I just hope I keep motivated throughout the semester.

I am going to be setting goals for myself and I hope I reach them. I will be giving updates throughout the semester and any tips I can think of for myself I will be sharing with you all!

Do you have any advice for me on how to deal with this upcoming semester? Let me know in the comments below!

I've been home for a few weeks now and for some reason just never got around to writing this post. I mean I have been working flat out (what else is new?).
Anyway, Jake and I booked a spontaneous trip to England back in March for the middle of May. We never do things like this and I was oh so excited to see England and Scotland. Fast Forward to May 16th when we boarded the red eye plane to Gatwick Airport. 5 hours later and we were lost, but finally across the pond. Another 3 hours and we were on our first leg of the trip, Bristol.

Here we stayed in a lovely Airbnb owned by a lovely man named John and his family. The place was lovely and perfect for the few days we were staying there. It was a little outside of the main city but for us, Newfoundlanders used to small crowds it was perfect. There was a lovely store nearby and some fantastic restaurants. From this location, we were able to visit Bath through the bus station. Bath was everything I hoped it would be, mind you I wish it had been a little warmer, but still perfect. We explored the Bath Abbey and the Roman Bath House. We dined in a lovely pizza/Italian restaurant and explored the gardens and streets. It was beautiful and oozed of history.

From Bristol, the next leg of our journey was to Edinburgh. Side note, the airport in Bristol is the most confusing airport I have ever been in. However, we managed to board our EasyJet plane and we arrived in a very wet Scotland. Our check in was much later for the place we had booked for just that night and we managed to get completely drenched. On the bright side, we made the most of the rain and visited Edinburgh Castle, the National Gallery, and had a meal inside the George IV pub. It was nice to get cover from the rain. When we finally arrived at our Airbnb we were completely soaked. This place was more of a hostel vibe, but the hosts were lovely.

The actual place we had booked to stay the remainder of our trip was much nicer. It was an Airbnb owned by Margaret and her husband. Margaret was one of the nicest people I have ever met and her place was lovely. She had so many nice touches and she made her place feel like home. Their place was located on a very convenient bus route and was so close to the sea. It was lovely. Over our 4 days with her, we explored Edinburgh some more. We went up the Scott's Tower, explored the graveyard looking for Tom Riddle, listened to people playing Bagpipes in the streets, and Jake even got a tattoo.
One of our days there we decided to take a bus tour up to Loch Ness which was really one of Jake's only requests before we went on the trip. It took us a while to decide because there are literally so many bus tours for that.We decided on the Highland Experience Tour and their Monster Tour to Loch Ness. Russel was our guide and he was so knowledgeable, funny, and also had an awesome playlist for the adventure in between story time. On the tour we got to see Loch Ness up close, stop in a few small villages (one having the best hot chocolate and scones I've ever had), we got to get up close to some Highland cattle, and the sisters of Glencoe were breathtaking to see. Not to mention seeing all of the Harry Potter filming locations was also a huge plus.

It was an exhausting long day, but well worth it. This part of our trip was my favourite and I really didn't want to leave. Scotland was beautiful and I loved every minute of it.

Edinburgh-London

We left by plane, as it was a much cheaper alternative at the time and flew into Gatwick once more. Here we had another lovely Airbnb in Chelsea. This part of the trip we were fairly tired and neither of us are fond of heat and it was around 30 degrees the entire time we were in London. So, we decided to hit almost all the bigger attractions in one day. We saw Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the London Eye, the Marble Arches, and a bit of Hyde Park. Our remaining few days were spent exploring the park near us, being lazy, and watching the River Thames go by.

I'll be honest here, London wasn't exactly my cup of tea. We're from a pretty small town/province in Canada and I always find big cities drain me just a little if I'm not used to it. However, I enjoyed the weather, the food, and Jake's company as we took in this massive city.

Day Trip to Brighton

As we had grown tired of the city, we decided to spend one of our last days down in Brighton. This was one of the places I thought I would only get to see from the plane and am so happy I got to see it. It was another hot day when we went and we made the most of it. We explored the pier, the beach, the market area, the pavilion, and a few shops. We also got some Dum Dum Donuts and they were even better than I thought they would be. We got some Ti food for lunch, and a milkshake from a store I can't remember the name of because my blood had gotten low and I was in almost tears. According to my phone, we did the most walking of our entire trip on that day. It was a good day and we headed back into Chelsea once more.
London- Gatwick- Home

The last day of our trip was having one last look at the river and heading on the train to Gatwick. This was to be the only night we didn't stay in an Airbnb. We opted to stay in the Bloc Hotel. It was described as a Japanese Pod meets luxury hotel. It was not what we were expecting, but the bed was soft, the rooms sound proof, and the blackout curtains a plus. Our flight was pretty early in the morning, so it was nice to be able to just get out of bed and pretty much be in the terminal. I also finally got to have a Wagamama and an old English breakfast at the same time when we were waiting for our plane.

Our flight home was close to 6 hours and we landed at noon (Newfoundland time), red-eyed and not at all adjusting the time difference.

I am so thankful that I got to experience the country I always wanted to visit with Jake and for all the nice weather we got while we were there. It was so much fun and such a memorable trip.

If you live in Canada, you should already know that 2017 marks 150 years of Canada being Canada. Even though Newfoundland and Labrador only joined confederation in 1949, which means Canada with everyone in it is only 68 years old, but we won't get into that.

Regardless, as a Canadian, I want to make the most of this year of celebration. I'm travelling to Toronto for a week in July, but I thought I'd make a list of things to do to celebrate Canada here at home, specifically on the Avalon Pinesula.

1. Hike the East Coast Trail

The East Coat trail is a combination of 26 paths, making up over 300 kilometres of developed trails for those of the faint and not so faint hearted to explore. The trails go from easy to strenuous and can range from an hour or 12 depending on the trail. Some nice ones if you enjoy a destination are:
A. The Spout Path - Starting in Bay Bulls and going to the Lighthouse takes about 1.5 hours. This part of the trail is well maintained and you can currently go in the Lighthouse (at your own risk). You can also continue past the Lighthouse towards the Spout itself, but that is a 12-hour hike altogether.
B. The La Manche Village Path- Probably one of the easiest trails. This one has three different entrance points depending on how long you wish to walk for. One entrance is in Bauline East taking about 2 hours round trip from the village and back. The second is the shortcut just after the La Manche Provincial Park which is only an hour long. The third is in Brigus South and that takes about 6 hours one way. So, a perfect trail to match anyone's skill level. This one is nice because the bridge is to represent the bridge that was once there and you can see foundations of the houses that were once there.

2. Picnic at Lighthouse Picnics in Ferryland

This is such a nice afternoon adventure. I always book a picnic once or twice in the summer. It is a fantastic gourmet picnic that you can enjoy while watching bird, boats, and whales go by. Check out their website and make sure to book a reservation. They book up super quick and they're listed as one of the top 10 things to do in Newfoundland. Check out their website here.

3. Take a Boat Tour

What better way to enjoy the sea, the wind in your hair, and the salty air than with a boat tour. There are so many boat tours around the Avalon that it is probably impossible to name them all. However, I'll give it a go and here are some of the many boat tours you could try out this summer (remember July and the beginning of August are good times to see whales):

4. Take in Signal Hill & the Tattoo Performance

Probably one of the best places to get views of all of downtown St. John's is from Signal Hill. It features Cabot Tower, the Signal Hill Tattoo Performance where they reenact battles and set off guns, there's hiking, and also the Johnson Geo Center. Also for Canada's 150th, there is a massive Canada 150 sign that you can take pictures with right now to celebrate with Parks Canada. It is a beautiful location filled with a lot of history and perfect for Newfoundland and Canada.

5. Have a Bonfire

Celebrate Canada Day with friends and family with the warmth of a fire and the salty breeze from the sea. The Avalon has so many rocky beaches which are perfect for bonfires.

6. Explore Brigus, the market, & the "old way" to St. John's

Explore the North of the Avalon. Take the old way from St. John's and go to the many coastal towns. Explore Brigus and get some blueberry ice cream or head out on a Sunday to check out Some Good Market, filled with handmade items and goods from locals in the area. Be sure to have a look at their website sometimes they give away a dozen cupcakes by Best Kind Bake Shoppe. If you're also wondering about other things you can get in Brigus check out my Brigus Haul from last year.

7. Check out some Festivals

One thing Newfoundlanders like to do is have festivals all through the summer. Many in St. John's, but there are a few festivals outside the city with local artists or performers from around Canada and beyond. Some festivals you may want to check out this summer are:

Canada's Big Birthday Bash - featuring Simple Plan- St. John's, NL from June 30th-July 2nd

Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival- featuring Hey Rosetta!- St. John's NL from Aug 4th-6th

33rd Annual George Street Festival- St. John's NL from July 27th-Aug2nd

Puffin Festival- Witless Bay, NL from July 29th- 30th.

Shamrock Festival -Ferryland, NL from July 22nd-23rd

Blueberry Festival - Brigus, NL to be held mid-August

8. Take in a Local Gallery

We are the arts. There are many art galleries you can venture through in St. John's. There are also some amazing ones on the Avalon as well, such as the Five Island Art Gallery in Tors Cove and also Chris Pratt's art studio in Mount Carmel. Before you start, no he is not the actor; however, he did create the Newfoundland Flag. Which is still pretty cool. If you don't plan on venturing out of the city the City of St. John's actually has a pretty good list of galleries on their website and you can purchase prints or pieces at most of them.

9. Fishing Village Exploring

Although the fishery isn't as large as it was, there are still a number of small fishing communities you can explore. For example, right near downtown St. John's you can explore Quidi Vidi. A Very picturesque place with stages, small dories and oozing beautiful vibes. If you want to check out more of them a little further there is also the lovely town of Petty Harbour, which has two places to eat Chafe's Landing and the Watershed Cafe. Both lovely places for a bite to eat. The town showcases much of the fishery, as well as a mini aquarium and zip lining. If you're looking for really small check out Brigus South along the Southern Avalon.

10. Explore the National Historic Sites & Parks

Take in history, nature, or both. There are a number of historic sites and a number of parks you can explore. Some of these are right here on the Avalon such as the Cape Spear Lighthouse, which is the most eastern point in North America, Castle Hill, Hawthorne Cottage, and Signal Hill. There's also a few national parks, as well as provincial parks that you can explore or spend an evening camping in.

It's been a bit of a spell. Pretty much over two months. However, I have been working flat out and I have had so much going on that blogging went on the back burner.

Anyway, here I am and hopefully not going anywhere anytime soon. I thought today I would give you all a little update on how I've been, what I've been up to and what is soon to happen.

For how I've been, well it's been some ups and a number of downs. It's been a bit rocky of a month health wise. I've been feeling a lot of stress from not yet finding a job in my field, while I am okay with this, apparently, no one else is. Family, friends, coworkers, customers, everyone... seem to think that I can't just work at a coffee shop while I save money to travel or to find myself first. I'm doing a lot of behind the scenes. Let's say I'm pretty content, but everyone else is a bit more negative about my situation than I am.

For what I've been up to it varies from planning possible business idea(s) while just making sure I have money to pay for my responsibilities and for the thing that is soon to happen. Other aspects, all I do is work right now and you know see some of my friends, look up cute dogs on rescue sites, and do some online certification courses on the weekends I'm off. I've also just been frozen during Newfoundland's second winter. We had a beautiful beginning of March. but she's going out like a lion by's. We're possibly getting another 60 cm of snow later this week and it's all just too much.

If you follow me on Twitter you know what the soon to happen is. If you don't, well Jake and I are heading over to England/Scotland for 2 weeks in May. We decided this very spontaneously and essentially why I am working so much is to make sure this and everything else is paid for. We are oh so excited and can't wait to explore. Going to the UK has always been a dream of mine and I can't wait. It's only another 48 days. We are still super underprepared, but we'll get it done. He's also letting me take video clips of all of it so I can make it into a wonderful travel diary or travel "vlog".

Anyway, February and March were a hell of a time. Let's hope April goes by better and get ready for some new posts starting in the next few days!

Thank you all for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful day! :)

I have been going ham with "treat yourself" vibes lately. The latest item that was added to my collection during one these vibe sprees was Morphe's Fall into Frost Palette.

I ordered this directly from Morphe's Website on a whim. I had seen some intense bad reviews of palettes arriving completely destroyed or never arriving, to begin with. So, I was a bit nervous about what I was possibly going to receive.

However, I was happily surprised after the package showed up after 2 weeks. It was in a large box filled with packing peanuts and the outside of the palette was bubble wrapped and again outside the palettes box. Needless to say, it arrived completely unharmed and perfect.

So, onto the actual palette. It is actually gorgeous. It comes with a wide range of colours, 28 metallic shades and 7 matte shades to be exact. They are wonderfully pigmented and very buildable. I wasn't at all expecting this for such an affordable palette. I've only played with it a little bit so far, but I am very content with it. There's minimal fallout, sometimes a little bit of glitter on your cheeks from some of the darker shades, otherwise, it wears very well.

The cost of the palette was around $47 dollars Canadian and you can order your own here.

If you would like to see a look using this palette let me know in the comments down below!

Also a heads up, I will be announcing my new and updated Instagram for this blog sometime next week over on Twitter. So make sure to keep an eye out for that!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day and thank you so much for stopping by.

With Valentine's Day swiftly approaching I thought I would bring you guys date night look using one of Tanya Burr's Palettes. I actually got this palette back in October, but haven't gotten around to using it very much. It is called the Beautifully Defined palette and it features 3 eyeshadows, a highlighter, a bronzer, and a liquid highlighter. They are all very nicely pigmented and a little really goes a long way. It also sports a very nice mirror.

My only complaint is on the packaging. It is a fairly large package that doesn't completely snap closed so I would be a little worried about taking it travelling with me. The outside is also covered in loose glitter, making it pretty, but also is a nightmare on your hands.

Otherwise, it is a fantastic palette. It comes with a whole lot of product and is fairly affordable.

So, essentially for this Valentine's look, I did my normal base layer of makeup except with my new foundation that was featured in my First Impressions. I then went in with the palette. It creates a very glam look if you want it or make it more casual. I went with a bit more casual for this look.

Outfit wise for this look I went with a semi-glam/neutral look. I decided on my green emerald dress from Dynamite and my grey heels.

I was in Shoppers this past weekend and decided to have a treat myself moment whilst I was in the cosmetics isle. The one isle, I would have one of those moments in.

Anyway, there were a few things on sale that I wanted to try and sure enough, I was like "Yup, gonna get these". So, I bought them, tried them, and now I bring to you today a few of my first impressions of the products.

The first Product is an NYX Lingerie Lipstick. I already have one of these, but I wanted to try another colour. I decided to go with Ruffle Trim. Really nice nude colour. Has a bit of a rouge to it. It wears pretty well, but you may need to reapply it after a meal. Otherwise, it is a really non-drying liquid lipstick and has a mousse texture to it.

The second product was the Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation. I bought a Maybelline one a few months ago, but for whatever reason, this one breaks me out or slides off my face. However, the Rimmel one is super lightweight. It doesn't slide off my face and it has build-able coverage. I don't like to layer my foundation, but this one has a nice base to it and really goes well with the usual makeup I use. It is also very hydrating as it describes. Overall, a solid foundation that I would recommend.

Along with makeup, I also picked up Garnier's new Purifying Makeup Removing Wipes. It is supposed to clean and create a matte complexion. It's pretty good and has about 40% more product in it compared to the other ones they have. However, I find it doesn't remove as much makeup as it should. I also find I have to slightly scrub to get it off, where the other kind I can just do a quick wipe. So, this one is a bit of a hit or miss and rather than a makeup remover, more of an oily patch ridder.

The last product I bought was the Clean & Clear acne spot treatment. This one I have had excellent results with. It smells a little strange (kind of like alcohol), but it does really work. I have had a problem area on my face for months and this really made a huge difference to me. I had under the skin pimples that would not go away ever, but they have significantly decreased over the last few days while I used the product. So, I would really recommend this product for quick spot fixes.

That's all for my first impressions. Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments down below what you thought of them!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you all again very soon.

I feel like it has been a bit of a spell since I've done one of these. I'm pretty sure the last one was either October or November. In any case, I bring you today the first month of favourites for 2017. Which has honestly been a roller coaster of a month. Big changes, new life decisions, planning, and hopefully more living to come. Anyway, throughout this month I've had a couple of favourites to share with you guys. So, let's get right into it!

Pokemon Moon

Yes, this came out back in November. Yes, I have owned it and played it before this month, but January was the first chance I actually got to sit down and play it. Although, this one still doesn't measure up to my love of Pokemon XY, but it's still a quality game.

Castle on the Hill, Ed Sheeran.
I feel like I don't need to explain this at all. This was my favourite song this month.

Double Pom-Pom Hat

My sister gave me this hat for Christmas and it is the best thing I've ever put on my head. It's from Aldo by the way,

Blondo Sport Boots

I actually have a favourite pair of boots this month. They are my Blondo boots. They are brown and winter rugged. I have gone snowshoeing in them and have worn them to the mall. They are the perfect boots. They are also completely waterproof and meant for minus 30 degrees which is awesome.

Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette

This palette is great. It is so pigmented, to the point I was nowhere near ready for how little product I need on my brush compared to my drugstore palettes. It is also a nice travel size as well and suits my brown eyes great.

Wishful Drinking, Carrier Fisher

I have always wanted to read her books. When I was in Chapters this month, it was there and on sale and I just had to have it. I read it all in one sitting. It was awesome to read about her life and her struggles. She was truly an extraordinary woman. If you ever get the chance to read it I strongly suggest that you do.

Anyway, that is all for my January Favourites. Is there anything here you have or would like to get? Let me know in the comments down below!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a fantastic week.

Blogmas clearly didn't work, but I work retail so we all knew it wouldn't.

Anyway, I bring you today my thoughts of 2016 and my hopes/goals for 2017.

2016 has been a roller coaster of a year. I don't know what it is, but for a large majority of people, it seems like it wasn't a good year. I myself have experienced that. I lost my grandmother, failed to get a job in my desired field, said goodbye to some friends, and there were always a few more personal lows.

However, there were some good things about 2016. I finished my degree, I gained some amazing followers on this blog, I bought my first car, I made some amazing new friends, I got to go on a great trip to Ontario, I finally realised what my goals are in life, and I figured out a path to get me there. I am thankful for my failure because it has helped me realise that life isn't going to be easy and that the right job is out there. I just haven't found it yet, but here's hoping that in 2017 I do.

Some of my goals for 2017 besides finding that dream job is as followed:

Reach 500 followers by my July birthday

Continue to write at least one post a week for both blogs

Successfully transition Dash of Confidence from a mixture focus to a career-oriented blog

Take the GMAT

Get further in relearning French

Give more of my spare time to friends and family

2016 may have been a mixture of good and bad, but here's hoping that 2017 will be different. If it isn't I'm going to make it different myself. I can't expect a completely good year, but I have the control and power to make it better on my own.

What are your goals or hopes for 2017? What was one good and one bad thing that happened this year? Let me know in the comments down below!

Once again thank you so much for stopping by throughout 2016. I may have one more post left before the end of the year. If not, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year and I will see you all again soon.

If you're having a few friends over during the holidays or spending some quality time with family you may want to have a solid Christmas music playlist going on in the background.

I have made a playlist over on my Spotify account which you can reach through the link.
It consists of some typical Mariah Carey and usual Christmas songs. However, I have also added some music I would normally listen to with my family that just makes the house feel so much more like Christmas time.

I hope you enjoy the playlist. Do you have a Christmas playlist made? Link me your Spotify Christmas Playlists down below!

I hope you are all having a magical time and I will see you again tomorrow.

Every single year my family sends out a Christmas card or email for our family Christmas photo. This happens every year in front of the Christmas tree.

It is almost an annoying tradition since there is always some form of arguing, the tripod goes missing, the camera ends up slanted, or someone has their eyes closed. However, I wouldn't trade that for the world.

As I reflect on this traditional photo I am realising that this may be my last Christmas actually living at home. Which is somewhat terrifying to think about. Of course, I should still be around for the photo, but thinking about it makes me excited and scared for what the future has in store.
Had to get a little deep there of course.

However, the Christmas photo is a great time with my family. It's time together that I know that will happen which happens more and more rarely now.

Anyway, does your family get together for a Christmas photo every year? Let me know in the comments down below!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you again tomorrow for Blogmas day 10!

So, Newfoundland has some pretty interesting Christmas traditions. I thought I would share with you all today just so you have a little bit more background on the place I call home.

1. Mummering
If you search Newfoundland Christmas traditions the first thing that will come up is probably Mummering. Mummering is the act of men and women dressing up in weird costumes, covering up their faces, bringing music, and ugly sticks with them and going around to people's houses dancing and carrying on. Sometimes they'll make people guess who they are as well. There is also the very Newfoundland Christmas song known as "The Mummer's Song". The link leads you to a YouTube video of the song. It's kind of interesting and gives you an idea of what Mummering is all about.

2. Tibb's Eve
I spoke about Tibb's Eve last year in this post. It is essentially when you get together with friends and family on December 23rd. It's a great bit of fun.

3. Throwing a Flaming Log
Some people bring yule logs into their home. Other people back in the day in Newfoundland used to throw flaming logs over their house. Why you may ask? To protect their homes in the coming year from fire. This one isn't done too often anymore maybe because it was almost defeating the purpose. However, a little Newfoundland Christmas tibit none the less.

4. Midnight Mass
This is probably done in a lot of places, but if you're catholic many people will head to Christmas Eve midnight mass. Sometimes there will be additional singing and people occassionally have big family parties before the mass. Nice little family time.

5. Christmas Jigs Dinner
I don't know what it is, but Christmas Jigs Dinner is so much better than weekly Jigs Dinner. Maybe it's because of the turkey? However, it is so good. You have your turkey, salt meat, potatoes, turnip, carrots, cabbage, stuffing, peas pudding, and gravy. It is so good.

So, that's all five Newfoundland Christmas Traditions I'm sharing with you. Have you heard of any of these before or what is your hometown's Christmas Traditions? Let me know in the comments down below!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will see you again tomorrow!
7. Christmas Dinners
Christmas jigs dinner is the best.
8. Friendmas

Everyone is busy this time of the year. Work piles up, free time is spent shopping, and decorating for the holidays seems like a massive task. This year for Christmas I have actually been working full time and have very little time to decorate. Which is why I have developed a plan to keep myself motivated for an entire day to get all my house decorations complete.

I don't know about you, but my family has so many decorations, say seven giant totes filled with decorations. So, it can be a bit time consuming and occasionally it has taken us a few days to complete.

Now I would advise for doing this you should have everything prepared and ready to go the night before. If you are wondering how to prep for decorating I would suggest organising every box into the room it should be in. If you can make sure to have anything that gets switched is down and packed away. We have a lot of frames that get replaced with Christmas themed paintings. Now the other main things to keep you going is to have an awesome Christmas playlist set up and some snacks ready to go for the decorating day.

When it is the actual day for decorating which may be your only day off from work the week (I know it will be mine), you're going to want to get up early. You're then going to make an awesome breakfast and crank up the Christmas music. Once you're functioning, it'll be time to get into decorating.

You should then tackle each room at a time. Completely finish the room before you start on the next. And have all the boxes tidied up as well. That way when everything is done you can put the boxes back into storage. Take a break if you need during the day with the snacks you have ready. You could also invite a friend over or have you siblings or parents help you decorate. If you make it a party time and dance around it's going to take no time at all to finish all the decorating.

I hope this helps with your decorating day. Have you already started decorating? Comment down below links to pictures of your Christmas decorating! I would love to see them!
Thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you again tomorrow!

Sometimes even with all the examples, a friend can be so hard to shop for. I have a friend I struggle with every single year with getting the right gift. She is very quiet and doesn't talk about herself much so it's hard to tell what she's hoping to get for Christmas.
So, if you also have a difficult friend to shop for here is my list of possible gifts!

scarf

Jewellery

Nice Dressy Shirt

Cook Book

Novel

Gift Card to one of their favourite stores

Lipstick kit

Christmas Apron

Homemade gift

Sometimes homemade gifts are the best gifts. Especially when you're on a budget they can be super helpful and I find they are way more personal.

If you have any other ideas to add to the list comment them down below!

The men in my life are probably the hardest to shop for, especially, my dad. He doesn't golf, fish, hunt, or drink. His one major activity besides going to the cabin is motorcycles and this time of the year there are always fewer items out for both. So, we normally get him something that speaks to his inner child or his love of Star Wars. Last year we got him the Millennium Falcon drone and I've never seen his eyes light up so much. He was so pumped about it.
Anyway, today I was bringing you a guide to some gifts to give the men in your life if they actually like the things I mentioned above. Here are some gift giving ideas I have for you.

Dad:
Beer making kit, golf accessories, fly fishing rod, new camo hunting gear, man cave item, weekend trip hunting. Novelty items like a "best dad" mug, ties, or a coffee maker. Or if your dad is difficult like mine is, get him a toy he would have enjoyed as a kid.

Brother:
The only one who is not hard to shop for is my brother. He is probably the easiest of the bunch. For your brother, you could get them a video game, book, Xbox or PS4 gift card, new controller, T-shirt, Pop figure, remote control vehicle or drone.

Boyfriend or friend that is a boy:
The type of gift will vary for this although I find it somewhat similar to what you could get your brother. You could also throw in a nice dress shirt or a shaving kit. However, presents you would get for you brother could also work for a guy friend.

I hope these examples have helped. If you have any other ideas comment them down below!

I always find my mother, sisters, and girlfriends super easy to shop for. However, there will be the odd occasion when I have a little bit of trouble finding the right gift. So, today on Blogmas I bring you some gift ideas for a woman in your life.

Mother:
For my mom, I usually go for jewellery, throw blankets, teas, or a gift card for a new e-book. My mom loves to read and curl up on the couch so I find these gifts perfect for her. Last year we got her a beautiful jewellery box with rose gold details on the front.

Sister:
Out of the women in my life, my sister may be the hardest person to shop for. We have slightly different tastes so something I think is nice, she will most likely not have the same view. So, some ideas for a sister, preferably, a younger sister you could get them some pop figures from their favourite show or movie. You could also get her something to decorate her room like a tapestry, or new bedding. Some years I have also gotten my sister a statement necklace or nice earrings as well.

Girlfriends:
I always end up getting a gift card to Sephora for many of my girlfriends, or to Starbucks. I also tend to make up little boxes of things, like necklaces, gifts related to their favourite TV show or movie, or a pair of mittens or a scarf. You can make these gifts personal or more generic. I even will normally make up a box of generic gifts if someone gets me a gift unexpectedly. It's always good to be prepared.

What gift ideas do you have for a woman in your life that I might not have listed here? Let me know in the comments down below!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you tomorrow!

I am so thankful that I am fortunate enough to actually struggle with making my wishlist for this year. There are actually only a few things I really would like to receive this year. Let's get right into it, shall we?

1. Teal Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer

If you have been following me for a while, you know I ask for a kitchen themed gift every year. This year I really want my own hand mixer. Especially, from the kitchen aid line and I love all the colours their products come in.

2. Metallic Pleated Midi Skirt

The amount of skirts I own is shocking. However, even if I have plenty, I really am loving the pleated metallic skirt look that has been floating around recently.

3. Urban Decay Naked3

I am a gold and pink type of eyeshadow girl. I've been wanting the Naked3 palette for a while and have actually been saving up my Shoppers points for it. However, I think this will be staying on my Christmas Wishlist.

4. Boscia Illuminating Black Mask

This is really my favourite face mask of all time. My face is always the best when I'm using this and I need a new one very badly.

5. Brigus is always a good idea Shirt

This shirt is from the Newfoundland company Figgy Duff Dory. It's currently sold out, but I want one of these shirts so bad.

6. Pug Puppy

I have been wanting a pug puppy for years now. It's the perfect type of dog for me in terms of exercise and the amount of love and cuddles they want to give.

And that is all for my 2016 Christmas Wishlist! What do you have on your Christmas Wishlist? Let me know in the comments down below!

The day is finally here, December 1st, a.k.a the beginning of Blogmas!

If you're into Christmas or celebrate it get ready for Christmas themed posts every day leading up to the big day. My apologies if you do not celebrate Christmas.

I am so excited to be doing Blogmas this year. It's been a crazy 2016 with a lot of changes and after taking my almost month off of blogging, I thought to myself that there is no better way to end 2016 than with Blogmas. Ending this crazy emotional year off on a lighter note.

This past November has been a bit hard of a month for me and I haven't been feeling well physically or mentally. However, I have been feeling a bit more like myself recently and am getting back into the swing of things. Which is also why I think Blogmas is now perfect for me to do.

Anyway, I hope you are all ready for Christmas traditions, gift giving ideas, recipes, and so much more over here on Paper Crane Girl!

I shall see you every day as we gear up for the big day!

Another month has come and gone. Although, I did not find this month nearly as fast as the last one. However, I still have some favourites to share with you guys on this lovely first day of November! A lot of it seems to be clothes this time around as well. In any case, let's get started!

Candle: Pumpkin Apple

Love this candle! It is so sweet with the perfect notes of pumpkin and apples combined to make the most autumn candle. Love it. I have been burning it almost every day, but slowly because I wish to savour it.

Makeup: NYX Lingerie in Bedtime Flirt

I have been grabbing this NYX lipstick compared to the rest of them. I find it has a very long lasting power and I usually struggle to take it off before bed. I also love the colour of it. I have a post slowly on this lip coming up soon for you guys!

Maybe not always worn together, but these three have been my faves this month. I love skirts in the Fall and Winter times when they are paired up with tights and nice boots. Ankle Booties are also the kind of shoes I've been grabbing the most The ones pictured are from Urban Planet. They make me feel very tall and chic. So, adding this to an outfit is awesome. I'm trying to go longer without washing my hair as frequently, and beanies have been my hero with this. I can get away with slightly dirty hair for an extra day and they also keep me warm as it's been cooling down really quick. The pink beanie is from Urban Planet and the white one is handmade from Ireland.

Food: Peanut Butter Cookies

My mother made a very large batch of these in the middle of October. I devoured them. I love peanut butter cookies and these were so good.

One of the best things about Fall if getting cosy. Curling up on the couch or in bed, candles going, and watching a movie or reading a book are the best things. It's a relaxing time of the year since all the bugs are slowly leaving, it's no longer super hot, and coats and sweaters can resurface in everyone's closets. There is also fantastic food.

If you are looking to have your own relaxing fall day, here are a few things you may want to have:

1. A Face Mask.
One that you can wear awhile is perfect.

2. Comfy Clothes.
Sweats, pyjamas, or anything you find comfortable is perfect for this.

3. Messy Bun or Pony Tail.
Don't worry about your hair. Throw it up and get it out of your face.

4. Ultimate Cosy Place.
Whether your cosy place is your bed or the couch, pick the best place. Or even make a fort if you have the room for it.

5. Favourite Movie
Grab some of your favourite movies or add to your list on Netflix.

6. Snacks.
Whether you're trying to be healthy or this is your cheat day, grab some snacks. My go-to snack right now is still apple slices with peanut butter.

7. Get Cosy.
Now, just enjoy your day. Relax and just unwind in your cosy space.

What is your cosy space? Tweet me over here with your cozy space! I'd love to see/hear about it!
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Being a diabetic I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween. There is so much food that I should never have, but I eat it anyway. So, today I am bringing you a few Halloween snack ideas that I enjoy to chow down on or I think could be good to eat. Let's get to it!

1. Mummy- Wrapped Brie
Who doesn't love brie? I have not tried this one yet, but I would love to. It keeps coming up on my Facebook Newsfeed and it looks so good! I think this could be perfect for a Halloween themed movie party with friends or just to have with family. The recipe is over at this link.

2. Shortbread Cookies
This one I have made. Take your favourite shortbread cookie recipe and this icing recipe paired with some Halloween cookie cutters and you can have your own ghost and pumpkin cookies that taste awesome!

3. Halloween Themed Pretzels
These are super easy. Take white melted chocolate, and add a bit of orange food colouring to it. Dip your pretzels in and sprinkle with some Halloween coloured sprinkles. Super easy and very good.

4. Halloween Cake Pops
Again, this one is just making some cake pops and decorating them Halloween themed, like Frankenstein, mummies, zombies, you name it. This is yours to create!

5. Candy Apples
What's Halloween without candy apples? You can make a few or a lot. Meltdown a lot of caramel and dip your apples in it. Before the caramel dries sprinkle some candy on it and let it set in the fridge for an hour or two. So, good and lasts a while.

I hope you have enjoyed all these ideas. If you're having a Halloween Party tweet me your Halloween themed snacks! I would love to see them.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and thank you so much for stopping by!

It has certainly been a busy month. Between work, blogs, and life it has been pretty crazy around here. Although crazy, it has certainly flown by and I feel so productive and inspired when it comes to my content creation. Writing a post or two a day has become my new schedule, and another day or two a week is for all the pictures.
In all, it's been busy. Would I change it? No way. I have also had a business idea blossom this month. More of that to follow in a number of months if it amounts to anything.

So, there are a few things I have learned over this last month:

1. Organization is key.
2. Write/Plan ahead of time.
3. Get in the spirit earlier.
4. Plan out your photography
5. Scheduling is a must.
6. Tweet scheduling is oh so important.

Most of my extra time now is going towards blogging and blogging related activities such as getting involved with chats and connecting with fellow bloggers. Thanks to it all I have been feeling very inspired and more positive. Let's hope I can keep this going. I already have a lot of posts planned for the following months and I will be participating in Blogmas here! I'm super excited for that since Christmas is my favourite time of the year.

If you're new here and are wondering about the second blog you can visit that over at www.dashofconfidence.com. I post every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday over there.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful day!
