Fall Weekend Adventure

Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree. - Emily Brontë

Fall time in Brigus is simply lovely. I knew it would be and I thought now would be a good time to have an adventure to Brigus with Jake. So, we took the drive up there today and basked in the fall chill. Jake ate plums and apples from trees as we ventured around the community and it was a well spent afternoon that's for sure.

This post was originally going to be a look book post; however, this town captures my heart and soul every time and I always end up having more scenery shots than actual clothing shots. However, I am head over heels for the picture of me above (awkward stance included). The little river and fall colours are really what make the picture. So, instead of a look book I will be given you a closer look into my adventure.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this last time, but this is such a picturesque town. Almost every house has a white picket fence and a name. They all seem to have lovely gardens as well.

It is also filled with a lot of history. There is a National historic site and the town of Bob Bartlett and other famous captains. There are many memorial benches for town folks from the past as well.

There is so much beautiful scenery here. Wonderful walks. Small narrow turning roads. Ocean views. Pond views. The list goes on.

If you do get to Newfoundland, take the trip out of St. John's and head to this area. You will not be left disappointed, I promise.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Another Monday- Life Update

Hello Everyone and Happy Monday to all. I don't know about you, but I had an awful lot of trouble getting up today and that was with being woken up with puppy cuddles. The winter months after Christmas always make me so sad and tired. However, I'm thinking up things to do on some of my days off so hopefully those days are pick me ups.

I'm home from school now for today and am going to spend the rest of the evening getting some school work ready, reading for slideshows, cleaning my room, and hopefully taking a nap at some point or going to bed at like 9 because I am actually an old lady and not 22.

Anyway, I wanted to share with you guys the little adventure I went on last week since it is the only thing of interest I did. Myself and two friends went on a drive to Port de Grave, Newfoundland. It's a little fishing town that probably also looks amazing during the day, but we went at night to see the boat lighting. Every year for the past 17 years I do believe they have Christmas lights strung on all the boats and the wharf and a few houses go all out with lights and it looks amazing. I have never actually been there before last Wednesday (which was the last day), old Christmas Day. It was amazing to see all the lights and how they twinkled on the water and ice. It was very cold though and my face went numb from how cold it was. If you plan on being in Newfoundland next December I would strongly recommend having a look at these lights. Port de Grave is about an hour outside of St. John's and you get to witness a more rural feel. Here's a few pictures from that, unfortunately not that great since both my phone and camera take horrible pictures at night.

That also reminds me that I am slightly planning a little trip across Newfoundland for this summer. There are some places I want to show Jake where he has never been. Then there are just places we both want to see and I think it would be really fun since we've never really done something like that before. I mean we've gone away to visit his sisters to the mainland, and have been camping together before, but driving and explore areas outside the Avalon we haven't done together. So, I think it would be a very good experience and I look forward to it.

Do any of you guys have a place like Port de Grave where you live or are you planning a small road trip this summer to explore where you're from? Leave a comment down below, I'd love to hear about it!

Have a fabulous week everyone and I'll see you guys soon!

Monday Again!

I have been pretty silent the last few days. My apologies for that, but life is getting busy and I am in prime exam & end of the term everything is due time. However, I do have a post today about my weekend.

I didn't do a whole lot on Friday or Saturday, I worked and worked and worked. However, Saturday night me and the boyfriend went to see the new Peanuts movie. It was good, like some parts were excellent, but I dunno there was something about it I didn't like for a kids movie.. I just can't put my finger on it. However, I am thrilled with the ending. The animation was really cool too.
Sunday was probably the only day I had a bit of fun. Me and my friend went on a grand adventure. We went to the local fall fair. I got tea buns, cookies, fudge, and a Christmas dog scarf for Max! We then headed to the downtown shops. A lot of stores and restaurants have recently closed, but a lot of new ones have opened up in their place. We went to Poise Row, I got a few gifts in there and I want to go back and get fox salt and pepper shakers. Not that I need them since I'm still living at home, but they are so cute. I saw another perfect colour in the local dog shop, but I stopped myself. We went into Fred's Records. I'm currently on the hunt for a Carlton Show Band record since my record player has scratched and ruined one of dad's favourites on it. However, I couldn't find it in there.
We checked out the new sushi place downtown too, Sushi Island. It was so good! They had so many options and even had cheese wontons! We all know how much I love cheese wontons! So,  you guys can only imagine how excited I was. We then embarked to see more stores and then after freezing to death and being soaked to the bone we headed on over to chapters where I got some awesome wrapping paper.

Then I just studied for the evening. Attempted to anyway. I'm way too excited for Christmas after Sunday.
Today I'm suiting up for a run on the treadmill and some studying before I go out to school. I'm also going to Jungle Jims for anther friend's birthday supper.
Sorry for lack of interesting pictures. It was way to wet yesterday to take a few snaps.

Have a marvellous week everyone!

This Past Weekend~~Halloween Things & Brett Kissel

You know when you walk outside in the early morning and you can feel and smell the season? Just completely reminds you of Fall and Winter. That's what it's like here most mornings now. Max seems to be enjoying that a lot.

So, let's get into my weekend. We can probably skip Friday because Friday I had a night exam.

Saturday was slightly more exciting. After an 8 hour work day, I got to go to a friends house and play Cards Aganist Humanity (awesome game if you haven't played it yet). And we drank and ate unhealthy things and it was good. It was a nice way to spend my Saturday night.

Sunday was work again. However, I got off much earlier at 1 pm so that's kind of still the whole day left. I did some things around the house and got ready. Then it was Sunday Night Date Night. Myself and Jake went out and bought some pumpkins for future carving. We then headed to Cineplex to see Hotel Transylvania2! I've been so excited for this movie and it was pretty good, not as good as I thought it would be, but it was a very cute movie to watch.

Monday , although not the weekend, I'm including it anyway. So, I had class Monday, but after class we headed to the Holy Heart Theatre to see Brett Kissel & Jordan  McIntosh. It was such a good concert. Jordan played some of his awesome songs and he sings some of his covers like he 1D one he had done with Georoge Canyon and Hey Yall! Which was awesome! He was a very fun performer and has gotten even better since I saw him in Cavendish last year.
Then Brett Kissel came on! He is so good. Such a great performer! He played so many of his fantastic songs & was hilarious. He was also so sweet when he sang a song in tribute to his mother, "I didn't fall in love with your hair". He came down to the lady in the audience, who is going through chemo therapy, and gave her a brand new Gibson guitar and signed it for her. Everyone was in tears.
He then had Jordan screeched in. If you're not familiar with the custom it's a little funny to do with mainlanders who want to become honorary Newfoundlanders.  The process involves recitation, drinking a shot of Newfoundland Screech Rum, and kissing a cod fish. Kinda of a weird process, but it's hilarious to watch. It was very funny since Jordan couldn't even understand what the guy was asking him.
Then on with the last of the concert with 3-2-1 and a country music mashup which was excellent! It was such a fun concert and I really liked how it was in a smaller theatre instead of mile one. It made the concert much more intimate and personally. He also stayed two hours after the show getting pictures and selfies with everyone who wanted one! I know we didn't get out till after 12! Overall, it was a great concert and I hope they both decide to come to Newfoundland again.

So, that's my weekend. How was your weekend? Would love to hear about it!

Happy Turkey Day!

It's Thanksgiving here in Canada, and being from Newfoundland normally means a big Jiggs Dinner with the family. However, this Thanksgiving I am in Ontario. So, we had sushi today.

This was a jammed backed past couple of days. Flying up to Ontario after class, three hour flight, getting in super late and just crashing at Jake's sister's house. Friday we headed into Guelph where wedding prep was in full swing. Got my nails done with the girls and we ran around getting pies and all sorts of things.

Saturday was then the big day! Karen and Jonathan's wedding! I was ready to go at 9 am with 3 inch heels on and I went around helping Jake's mom and his sisters with making sure everything was ready and that we had everything. The service was lovely, Karen was beautiful as she always is and it was lovely. It couldn't have possibly gone any better than it did. I'm so happy I got to be apart of their big day. We danced and drank and laughed. It was really nice.

Sunday we headed back in towards the big city. We had the gift opening and had two of the families there together. It was nice. It was kinda like being home in Newfoundland. Just a lot warmer. We spent the whole day there and then headed back to Guelph.

Monday, today was another busy day. Even though it's only the afternoon now and I should be studying. It was fun. We had a look around the university, which was nice. It's such a nice campus. After we walked around we got sushi and W Sushi and it was so good. If you ever get the chance to go there go! They have awesome cheese won-tons. So, good!

Anyway, I need to get studying now since I have a nice few midterms at the end of the week. Hope you enjoyed my little update. So, happy I got to spend my thanksgiving in Ontario. It was a nice change.

This Past Week *Last week of August Edition*

So, this past week was pretty jammed packed filled with things. For one I was working a fair bit early in the week and didn't really get a chance to do anything except hang out with the boyfriend's sister who was home for a week,
Wednesday marks when I actually did something interesting. My sibling, mom, nan and myself went to visit our great grandmother in Tilt Cove, Newfoundland. Interesting little place because it is also now the smallest town in Canada. Five people live there and I'm related to every single one of them. So, we left early Wednesday morning and took turns driving. We had some pit stops along the way, but we finally made it there after seven hours.
We surprised grandma, she was so shocked to see us all. It was cute. We then chilled with her and my great aunt for a bit and then started to explore. Exploring Tilt Cove is probably one of my favourite things to do in life. Even though it's the smallest town it's actually huge. It's also pretty much down in a valley surrounded by mountains and you wouldn't even know the ocean is right next to you unless you actually walk for 15 minutes to get to the wharf. Anyway, we explored up some of the hills and took a look at the museum and we got our picture with the Ant Man Billboard. (Wondering about that? Here's a link to that!)
After all the exploring we had supper, explored some more, hung out with grandma for a bit longer then hit the hay.

Thursday marks us leaving early again, saying bye to grandma and driving back home for another 7 hours. We got home in the evening and I just hung out with the boyfriend and his sister for a little while then it was off to bed again.

Friday was another jammed packed day. I went berry-picking really early in the morning with the boyfriend's mom and his sister for a bit. Then it was saying good bye to her again since her flight was that day. Then me and the boyfriend headed off to Ferryland to go to Lighthouse Picnics. We also took over energetic Max with us. It was so pretty and so good! It was actually the best food I've eaten in so long. We both had the ham & brie with green apple sandwiches on oatmeal bread. I had the chocolate gauche cake and he had the s'more brownie. We had freshly made lemonade to drink. In fact almost all of the ingredients at Lighthouse Picnics are freshly made from local produce. It was very beautiful there and I wish we could have stayed there all day. However, we had to get moving since I had work that evening.

The rest of the weekend was just me working and coming home to sleep. Even today on this holiday I have to work. Pretty much everyday including the day back to school! I'm going to be one exhausted girl by the time Saturday gets here!
Anyway that was my week. I hope you enjoyed reading about it and looking at some of the pictures I took.
I hope you all have a wonderful day & thank you so much for reading!
